Hatteras ThunderheadI have always been fascinated by the ever changing sky. Taking the time to observe the clouds and capture the images with my camera is something I enjoy tremendously.  I carry my camera with me everywhere, just in case there is something I might see that is worth documenting.  I often pull my car over to the side of the road to capture an interesting cloud formation in the sky.

Zofia recently received an Honorable Mention Award in the 2006 Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation Photography Contest for this photograph titled “Hatteras Thunderhead”.

I have many photographs of just simple clouds taken looking straight up into the sky.  As part of my Art Exhibition of Hatteras Skies and Clouds 2006-2007, I hung 8×10 photographs of these simple cloud images on the ceiling of my Art Gallery.  “It is fun to look up and see all the different types of clouds on my gallery ceiling.  I get many comments from surprised visitors when they suddenly spot the cloud photos hanging above their heads”. Firey Sunset Sky at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse 150 “It is hard to miss a good sunset on Hatteras Island because of the wide open landscape.  Living close to the beach, there are very few tall trees to conceal the sky above.  I feel the vastness around me as I stroll along the deserted beaches during the off season. It is quiet and peaceful. I have taken several images of spectacular sunset skies that seem almost unreal in color.  I continue to be astounded by the beauty in nature”. Zofia 2007

“My latest passion is painting the skies that I see and the clouds in their many different forms, with oil paint on canvas.  Taking pictures of the clouds and capturing colorful sunsets with my camera is a way for me to develop ideas for the landscapes that I paint”. Zofia 2007
